James T. Holland

The Alpha Racetrack at the Y-12 Plant in Oak Ridge, Tennesee

James T. Holland worked for the Tennessee Eastman Corporation from June 1945 – September 1945 as a Beta machine mechanic in the Y-12 Plant, working in building 9204-3. His job was to build new beta machines and refurbish the beta machines after they completed their enrichment cycle. He is a veteran of World War II and the Korea War.

Later on, Holland worked for General Electric’s AirCraft Gas Turbine Development Evendale, OH, helping to develop the J79 Jet engine for Convair B-58 Hustler Bomber. He is a retired Maintenance Manager for the US Postal Service.

Cleo E. Harter served as a sergeant in the 393rd Bombardment Squadron. He was a member of the ground crew regularly assigned to the B-29 Strange Cargo.
