National Museum of Nuclear Science & History

Antonio Sandoval (1918-2015) was a janitor at Los Alamos during the Manhattan Project.  

Sandoval remembered, “It was like being a prisoner. All of the workers had to live in barracks near the lab, and there were fences everywhere.” Sandoval also served in the Army during World War II. After the war, he worked and lived on a ranch in Abiquiu, New Mexico.

Antonio Sandoval died on December 13, 2015 in Espanola, New Mexico.
