Richard H. Stark

Richard Harlan “Dick” Stark (1916-2007) was an American mathematician and computer scientist.

Stark was born in Ozawkie, Kansas. He earned an M.S. and a Ph.D. from Northwestern University. During World War II, he worked at the Naval Ordnance Laboratory in Washington, D.C., and then at Los Alamos, where he worked on the Manhattan Project. After the war, he worked for General Electric and later taught at Washington State University and New Mexico State University.

Richard Stark died on January 23, 2007.
