Nicholas Constantine Metropolis was born on June 11th, 1915, in Chicago. In 1936 he received his bachelor’s degree, and in 1941, his doctorate, both from the University of Chicago, and both in experimental physics.
Fred Utzman worked for the Edenfield Electric Company.
Seymour Calvert served for 11 months in the Special Engineering Detachment at Los Alamos. He specialized as a chemical engineer, and carried out experiments with beryllium that were often dangerous.
