William Crum was born on September 4, 1925, in Hancock County, IL. He was the seventh of eight siblings who grew up on a farm in Western Illinois near the Mississippi River.
William R. Crotty served as a corporal in the 393rd Bombardment Squadron. He was a member of the ground crew regularly assigned to the B-29 Some Punkins.
Jean Wallace was a research assistant in the health division of the Chicago Met Lab during the Manhattan Project.
