Margaret H. Dike was born in Prescott, Arizona, and she grew up in Cimarron, New Mexico. Before the war, Dike worked at the Department of Terrestrial Magnetism in Washington, DC. She came to Los Alamos in 1944 with her husband, electrical engineer Sheldon Dike. She worked as a reports editor for the Electronics Section, a secretary-draftsman for the Chemistry Division, and as an engineering draftsman. After the war, she worked as a school-community affairs specialist for Albuquerque Public Schools, winning many community awards for her distinguished work.
