Manuel Schwartz was a physicist. He worked at Los Alamos as a civilian employee from about July 6, 1944, until January or February 1946.
Joe Dykstra graduated from college in 1943 with a degree in chemistry. He went to Niagara Falls, where he worked for the Hooker Electrochemical Company, producing fluorine cells for Oak Ridge.
Captain Frederick Bock had flown many combat missions out of India and China before he was selected to be a part of the the 509th Composite Group in 1944.
