Alfred Carson was a mechanical engineer in the Special Engineering Detachment, and spent time at both Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and Los Alamos, New Mexico.
Waldrop arrived at Oak Ridge in early 1944, directly after receiving his Army basic training. At Oak Ridge, he worked at the Y-12 plant during the Manhattan Project.
Dewitt “Bill” Bailey was originally from New Albany, Mississippi, and was working at an Alabama shipyard when he heard of the job opportunities in Hanford.
