John P. McBride was a research assistant in the Chemistry Division at the Chicago Met Lab. He was later assigned to Oak Ridge, where he worked on plutonium purification and on isolating uranium-233 isotopes from thorium.
Lee R. Masoner served with the 603rd Air Engineering Squadron of the 509th Composite Group on Tinian Island in the South Pacific during World War II.
Martin G. Murray served as a corporal in the 393rd Bombardment Squadron. He was regularly assigned to the Necessary Evil as a tail gunner, but flew in the Big Stink in the Nagasaki Mission.
