James R. Corliss served as a technical sergeant in the 393rd Bombardment Squadron. He was regularly assigned to work as a flight engineer on the Up An’ Atom but did not fly in that plane during the August 1945 bombing missions on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Ken Pumphrey joined the Manhattan Project at Los Alamos in 1946, where he worked as a security guard until 1948.
Lyda Speck served in the Women’s Army Corps at Los Alamos during the Manhattan Project. She later remembered “how tight the security was.
