Winford D. “Doug” Crossland was a design engineer at the K-25 Plant at Oak Ridge, TN during the Manhattan Project and a member of the Special Engineer Detachment.

Crossland hailed from Louisiana and attended Louisiana Tech University. He did graduate work at Ohio State University before being assigned to Oak Ridge in early 1945. His wife, Jean, was a secretary in the K-25 process area. After they arrived in Oak Ridge, the Crosslands lived in half of a “Victory Cottage” they split with Hal and Reggie Behl, whom they had met at Ohio State.

After the war, Crossland worked in the Propulsion Development Department at the Boeing Company in Seattle. He later served as a facility head for the Rockwell Corporation at the Rocky Flats nuclear weapons plant.
