William G. (“Bill”) Hudgins spent most of childhood years in New Mexico. He first heard about a secret wartime laboratory at Los Alamos in 1943, when he was a student at the University of New Mexico.
Lt. Col. Thomas John Classen served as a lieutenant colonel in the 393rd Bombardment Squadron. By 1943, Tom was the captain of the 72nd Squadron.
Lorraine Golden (Heller) Crawford was a research assistant in the Chemistry Division of the University of Chicago’s Metallurgical Laboratory (“Met Lab”) during the Manhattan Project.
