Mary M. Dailey was a research assistant at the University of Chicago’s Metallurgical Laboratory (“Met Lab”) during the Manhattan Project. She was one of ten female scientists to sign the Szilard Petition, a document written by physicist Leo Szilard that attempted to prevent the United States from dropping the atomic bombs on Japan.
