Robert S. Norris is the author of the definitive biography of General Groves, Racing for the Bomb: General Leslie R. Groves, the Manhattan Project’s Indispensable ManHe is a senior fellow at the Federation of American Scientists in Washington, DC, and previously was a senior research associate for the National Resources Defense Council.

Norris is an expert on the nuclear weapons programs of the United States, the Soviet Union and Russia, the United Kingdom, France, and China, as well as India, Pakistan, and Israel. He is the co-author of Making the Russian Bomb: From Stalin to Yeltsin and has written many articles on nuclear history. He has a PhD in Political Science from New York University. He is a member of the Atomic Heritage Foundation’s Board of Directors.
