Michael Vickio was a member of the Military Police at Los Alamos, working on post security and the complex’s motor pool. In March 1943, Vickio was drafted and went to Camp Drum, New York for basic training. Upon completion of basic training, he went to Fort Dix, New Jersey for training as a military policeman. He was transferred to Los Alamos in October 1943, and his wife, Bernice Vickio, followed in June 1944. The two worked at Los Alamos until March 1946 with Michael being discharged from the Army. Vickio passed away in 1979 after a long career with the United States Postal Service.
