The first large-scale nuclear reactor in history, the B-Reactor, in Hanford, Washington

Bartholomew "Bart" Rivers was an instrument technician at the Hanford, Washington facility from 1943 through the end of the war. Rivers was involved in an accident at Hanford, leaving him with burns and scars on his legs, but no permanent damage. He remained in the Hanford area after the war, until leaving to work at the Nevada Test Site in 1964.
