Samuel R. Macaione was a member of the Special Engineering Detachment at Los Alamos. He was known primarily not for his work, but for his membership in the thirteen-member swing band at Los Alamos, "The Keynotes." The Keynotes would provide dance music on Saturday nights for the Los Alamos community to enjoy. Macaione played rhythym guitar and also was a member of a smaller group dubbed "The Sad Sack Six."
