Emmett Ward Morey was born 17 September 1895 in Elvaston, Illinois. In 1918, he moved to Zion, Illinois with his wife Mary and had two sons, Paul and David. Emmett had worked as an accountant both before and after the war. When his youngest son, David, was in high school, Emmett moved his family to Decatur, Illinois for a job. By 1947, they had returned to Zion. Emmett died on 19 July 1961.
In 2014, Emmett’s descendants found his Manhattan Project certificate. After a visit to Oak Ridge National Historical Park and museum, the family realized they also had another memento of Emmett’s time at the Garfield plant – his work badge. His job at the plant is unknown.
