Eldred C. “E.C.” Nelson (1917-2008) was an American physicist. Not long after arriving at the University of California, Berkeley to study physics, Nelson was recruited by his professor, J.
Merrill Garrett worked at the Y-12 Plant at Oak Ridge, TN during the Manhattan Project. A high school football star, Garrett received an appointment to the United States Military Academy, but was forced to decline due to financial circumstances during the Great Depression.
Alfred “Al” Zeltmann was a member of the Special Engineer Detatchment (SED) at Los Alamos during the Manhattan Project.
Gerald Cole served with the 1st Ordinance Squadron in the 509th Composite Group at airfields in both Wendover, Utah and Tinian Island in the Pacific.
