Albert Dehart was a member of the 509th Composite Group as tail gunner for the B-29 Superfortress aircraft, The Great Artiste and Bockscar. He flew on the Hiroshima mission on the Great Artiste. Dehart served as tail gunner on the Bockscar mission on August 9, 1945 that dropped an atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Nagasaki.
