Monroe Messinger was born in New Jersey and grew up in Brooklyn and Long Island. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of the City of New York.
Allred worked as a chemical operator at the Y-12 plant at Oak Ridge during the Manhattan Project. While at Oak Ridge, she was nominated as a contestant in the “Miss Atomic Bomb” beauty pageant.
Robert Stone was a research associate at the Metallurgical Laboratory in Chicago during the Manhattan Project.
