Antoinette Cichy was a nurse in the main infirmary at Los Alamos, handling classified documents and classified medical cases.

During World War II, she was a Women's Army Corps Registered Nurse who served in the Philippines, where she received the Bronze Medal for bravery. She was invited to the Manhattan Project because of nursing skills and her top secret classification.
