William Penney (1909-1991) was a British mathematician and physicist. William Penney’s first assignment of the war was a research position with the Royal Navy, studying collisions, explosions and shockwaves and searching for ways to use hydrodynamics to assist the navy.
Eldred C. “E.C.” Nelson (1917-2008) was an American physicist. Not long after arriving at the University of California, Berkeley to study physics, Nelson was recruited by his professor, J.
Carl Leonard worked for the Tennessee Eastman Corporation at the Y-12 Plant.
Otto Frisch (1904-1979) was an Austrian-born physicist. Frisch joined the Manhattan Project in 1943, but his most important contribution to the project came in 1940 in England.
