National Museum of Nuclear Science & History

Barney J. O’Keefe served in the military as an ensign during the war. He was a member of Project Alberta, the team that transported and assembled the two atomic bombs preceeding the August 1945 bombing missions on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. He worked on the X-Unit and helped assemble the Fat Man bomb before the bombing of Nagasaki.
