Theodore “Dutch” Van Kirk served as a major in the 509th Composite Group’s Headquarters and Base Services Squadron.
Clyde Stanley Shields was born on December 28, 1918 in Wichita, Kansas. After graduating from Mitchell High School in South Dakota, in May of 1936, Shields enlisted in the South Dakota National Guard.
John Cutshaw worked for the Oak Ridge Recreation and Welfare Association.
Vera Williams was in charge of the housing office at Los Alamos during the Manhattan Project. The wife of physicist John Williams, she also helped organize a maid service to help with housework and childcare.
