Gordon Garrett grew up in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, where his father, Merrill Garrett, worked on the Manhattan Project.
Marjorie Richmond was a laboratory technician in the Health Division at the Metallurgical Laboratory in Chicago during the Manhattan Project.
Dorothy worked at Oak Ridge during the Manhattan Project as a “calutron girl.” After her brother was killed in the attack on Pearl Harbor, she was eager to join the war effort, and did so starting in 1944.
