Elsie Mae Freeman was born in Missouri in 1900. She graduated high school in Chicago. After graduating, Elsie was recruited to work in a lab at the University of Chicago in 1919.
Anthony J. (“Tony”) Matz was a procurement officer at the University of Chicago Met Lab. He helped obtain, handle, and move many of the materials for Chicago Pile-1 and witnessed it going critical on December 2, 1942.
Gorseline worked at the 200 West Area at Hanford during the Manhattan Project.
