Dorothy worked at Oak Ridge during the Manhattan Project as a “calutron girl.” After her brother was killed in the attack on Pearl Harbor, she was eager to join the war effort, and did so starting in 1944.

Patricia Cox Owen joined the Manhattan Project in 1942, where she worked as a secretary for General Groves on the fifth floor of the New War building in Washington, D.
J. S. Culver worked for the Tennessee Eastman Corporation at the Y-12 Plant.
