In 1942, James E. Fix, was a 16-year-old freshman at Texas A&M University. Fix was drafted into the Army, and, after basic training, twenty men in his unit were chosen for the Army Specialized Training Program (ASTP).
Mary P. Frankel was one of the “human computers” at Los Alamos during the Manhattan Project. In the spring of 1943, Frankel and her husband, Stan, an American physicist who later became a computer scientist, arrived at Los Alamos.
A. L. Johnson worked for the J.A. Johnson Construction Company.
Lemmon was a Technical Sergeant who worked at Hanford during the Manhattan Project.
