Doris Allen (1915-2013) was a nurse in the hospital at Los Alamos during the Manhattan Project.

Born in Decatur, Illinois, Allen graduated from the Washington University School of Nursing in 1943. She then traveled to Los Alamos, New Mexico, where she worked as a nurse during the Manhattan Project.

Allen then returned to St. Louis. After her first husband died in 1958, she went back to school and graduated from the Barnes Hospital School of Anesthesia in 1960. She subsequently worked as a nurst anesthetist at Barnes Hospital and St. Louis County Hospital. In 1982, she moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where she worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital until her retirement in 1985.
