Edward Shapiro

Edward Shapiro was an American scientist and Manhattan Project veteran. After receiving a Ph.D. from Purdue University, Shapiro worked as a research associate for the Manhattan Project at the Metallurgical Laboratory in Chicago and at Oak Ridge.

After the war Shapiro cofounded the New England Nuclear Corporation. Shapiro served as the company’s chairman until it was acquired by DuPont in 1980. He then served on DuPont’s Board of Directors until 1987.

Shapiro died at the age of 86 in Lebanon, NH.
