Dr. Lewis Preston arrived in Oak Ridge in 1944. A recent graduate of the Baylor University College of Medicine, he joined the Army Medical Corps.
In 1943, Jess Brinkerhoff was working at Du Pont's Remington Arms ammunition plant in Salt Lake City as a warehouse and shipping foreman.
Brands worked at the 100-D Area at Hanford during the Manhattan Project.
