Edward F. “Ed” Hammel was an American chemist. Hammel had just completed his Ph.D. at Princeton University when he joined a Canadian heavy water project sponsored by the school in 1941.
John Wieneke was an American physicist who worked at Los Alamos during the Manhattan Project. Wieneke later worked on the post-war nuclear program at the Nevada test site in the 1950s.
Lee E. Caylor served as a corporal in the 393rd Bombardment Squadron. He was the regularly assigned assistant engineer for the Big Stink, and he and his crew were later reassigned to Luke the Spook.
