National Museum of Nuclear Science & History

Fred VanWyck moved to Richland with his wife Diana in 1944 from Charleston, West Virginia, where Van worked at DuPont's Belle Plant as a technician. At Hanford, Fred was a plant operator. He and his wife watched Richland grow and evolve over their time living there.

Anthony D. Capua, Jr.

Hiroshima Mission

Anthony D. Capua, Jr. served as a sergeant in the 393rd Bombardment Squadron. He was regularly assigned as an assistant engineer/scanner in the Up An’ Atom, but did not fly in that plane in the August 1945 bombing missions on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Larry Weintraub

Los Alamos, NM

Larry Weintraub (1921-2011) was a staff member at Los Alamos from 1946 until 1981. Born in Jersey City, Weintraub graduated from the Cooper Union Institute of Technology in 1942 with a degree in chemical engineering.
