Claude E. McLenon served as a technical sergeant in the 393rd Bombardment Squadron. He was a member of the ground crew regularly assigned to the B-29 Big Stink, and he and his crew were later reassigned to Luke the Spook.
Thomas Lanahan was a research assistant at the University of Chicago’s Metallurgical Laboratory (“Met Lab”) during the Manhattan Project.
Sayers worked for Stone and Webster Engineering Corporation.
Captain William Downey served as the Protestant chaplain for the 509th Composite Group and led the crew of the Enola Gay in prayer before they departed for Hiroshima.
