Harold Knisley served as a private first class in the 393rd Bomb Squadron in the 509th Composite Group as an aircraft mechanic. He was assigned to the engineering and armament department and served in the unit at both Wendover, Utah and Tinian Island in the Pacific. He was a member of the ground crew regularly assigned to the B-29 Straight Flush.
