Born in Washington County, Ky., on November 22, 1902, Harvey C. Parrott grew up on a farm but loved to travel as a young man. He married Nantie Belle Crews in Chicago, IL, on September 4th, 1928, and had one daughter, Nancy Crews Parrott Dougan. He worked at several different kinds of jobs while he moved around before the war. He began his career as an Engineer for Stone and Webster Engineering Corp. in Oak Ridge, TN, during the war, relocating there without his family. While he lived in Oak Ridge, he was unable to secure housing that would allow him to move his family out with him. After the war, he eventually ended up in Phoenix, AZ, in 1951, where he worked at Norge Dry Cleaning until he retired in 1976. He was 79 when he passed away from leukemia on December 15th, 1981.
