Julian Schwinger (1918-1994) was an American theoretical physicist and the 1965 Nobel Prize winner. During the summer of 1943, Schwinger briefly worked on the development of the atomic bomb at the University of Chicago’s Metallurgical Laboratory.
James K. Elder, Jr. served as a technical sergeant in the 393rd Bombardment Squadron. He was the flight engineer regularly assigned first to Luke the Spook and later to Big Stink.
H. S. Strandholm served in the 390th Air Service Group.
Rubby Sherr (1913-2013) was an American physicist. Shortly after finishing his Ph.D. at Princeton University, Sherr was performing groundbreaking radar research at the MIT Radiation Lab.
