Nicholas Constantine Metropolis was born on June 11th, 1915, in Chicago. In 1936 he received his bachelor’s degree, and in 1941, his doctorate, both from the University of Chicago, and both in experimental physics.
Arnold Kramish was a physicist in the Manhattan Project and a member of the Special Engineering Detachment (SED) at Oak Ridge, Tennessee, the Philadelphia Navy Yard, and Los Alamos.
