David L. Hill was an associate experimental physicist at the University of Chicago’s Metallurgical Laboratory (“Met Lab”) during the Manhattan Project.
Philip M. Barnes served as a lieutenant in the 1st Ordnance Squadron. He was the assistant weaponeer on Bockscar during the Nagasaki bombing mission.
