Donald Ames joined the Manhattan Project as a G.I. at the University of Chicago in 1943. Ames worked under Nobel Prize chemist Glenn Seaborg at the Metallurgical Laboratory, where he helped determine the chemical properties of plutonium and developed a rapid method for measuring the radium concentration in solutions.
Cox worked at the 200 West Area at Hanford during the Manhattan Project.
Olga M. Klicek was a laboratory technician in the Health Division of the University of Chicago’s Metallurgical Laboratory (“Met Lab”) during the Manhattan Project.
Manuel Montes Alcalde (1921-2009) was a machinist at Los Alamos during the Manhattan Project. Alcalde was born in San Leandro, California.
