Doris Allen (1915-2013) was a nurse in the hospital at Los Alamos during the Manhattan Project. Born in Decatur, Illinois, Allen graduated from the Washington University School of Nursing in 1943.
Eleanor Blanchard served as a sergeant in the Women’s Auxiliary Corps during World War II. She worked as a typist at Los Alamos during the Manhattan Project and also operated the switchboard for the Tech Area.
Richard Hamming (1915-1998) was an American mathematician who made important contributions to computing.
