Dr. Lewis Preston arrived in Oak Ridge in 1944. A recent graduate of the Baylor University College of Medicine, he joined the Army Medical Corps. After receiving his pediatrician’s training at the Mayo Clinic, he was dispatched to Oak Ridge, where he presided over a 150-bed military hospital.
