In 1942, James E. Fix, was a 16-year-old freshman at Texas A&M University. Fix was drafted into the Army, and, after basic training, twenty men in his unit were chosen for the Army Specialized Training Program (ASTP).
Attended Colorado State University.
Carleton Clark McEachern was a sergeant in the 509th Composite Group. He was regularly assigned to the B-29 Laggin’ Dragon as the tail gunner.
George Economou was an optical systems expert. Economou graduated from Harvard University with a degree in astronomy.
