Lt. Col. Frank C. Thomas

Lt. Col. Frank Clayton Thomas entered military service on September 14, 1927, and retired June 14, 1957. In 1945, Lt. Col. Thomas was selected to be part of the crew of Project King X0813. In the event the Japanese did not surrender after the second atomic bomb drop on Nagasaki, Project King calls for a third bomb drop on Tokyo.

Lt. Col. Thomas earned the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal with third clasp, Victory Medal World War 2, Service Lapel Button WW2, and the American Defense Service Medal during his 30 years of military service. Lt. Col. Thomas’ last assignment was Wing Commander, 3500th Pilot Training Wing, Reese AFB, Lubbock, Texas.
