Edward M. Josefiak served as a private first class in the 393rd Bombardment Squadron. He was a member of the ground crew regularly assigned to the B-29 Some Punkins.
Melvin H. Bierman served as a sergeant in the 393rd Bombardment Squadron. Bierman was regularly assigned as a tail gunner in the Up An’ Atom, but did not fly in that plane in the August 1945 bombing missions on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
W. M. Salminen worked for the Tennessee Eastman Corporation at the Y-12 Plant.
Jean Dow Bacher was born in 1907, and grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She married fellow Ann Arbor native and leading Manhattan Project scientist Robert Bacher in 1930.
