Edgar Sengier (1879 – 1963) was the director of Union Miniere du Haut Katanga. After being warned by British scientists regarding the potential danger were the uranium ore to fall into the wrong hands, Sengier decided to transport half the uranium stockpile from the Congo to the United States in 1940.
N. F. Smyth worked for the Kellex Corporation at the K-25 Plant.
Blanche J. Lawrence was an African-American research assistant in the Health Division of the University of Chicago’s Metallurgical Laboratory (“Met Lab”) during the Manhattan Project.
John A. Rothschild served in the 393rd Bombardment Squadron.
