Margaret Caldes moved to Los Alamos when her husband, William E. Caldes, was recruited to join the project in 1943. She worked as a secretary for Julian Mack in the photography department.

Hans von Halban (1908-1964) was an Austrian born French physicist. He finished his studies in 1934.  He joined nuclear physicist Niels Bohr in Copenhagen, where he and Otto Frisch discovered that heavy water had very little neutron absorption compared to normal water.

Ralph Nobles

Ralph Nobles was one of three brothers to work on the Manhattan Project. He and his brother William worked at Los Alamos, while brother Robert was at the University of Chicago’s Metallurgical Laboratory.
