Norene Mann

Norene Mann was a secretary at the University of Chicago Met Lab. She worked for Nobel laureate James Franck, but often also acted as a secretary for Leo Szilard.

In his biography of Szilard, Genius in the Shadows, William Lanouette described Mann as “lively and patient.” She recalled that Szilard could be both “extraordinarily generous” and “exasperating.”
