CJ Mitchell grew up in northeastern Texas during the Great Depression. At only sixteen years old, in 1947 he graduated from high school and took a job working on the trailer park in North Richland, Washington.
Frank W. Berzinis served as a corporal in the 393rd Bombardment Squadron. He was a member of the ground crew regularly assigned to the B-29 Up An’ Atom.
A few days after arriving from Oklahoma in late 1943, the Drums and their two girls moved into the Hanford Trailer Camp, an orderly community of more than 4,000 trailers and 12,000 residents.
